KJAER WEIS

Luxury, Refillable Makeup

Kirsten Kjaer Weis set out to make high quality makeup with clean ingredients, so women could have luxury products that weren’t filled with skin irritants. As a makeup artist herself, she knew that the best ingredients should be organic and the packaging eco-friendly. This brand carries specific instructions on how to recycle every product when you’re finished and how to refill when you’re ready for more.

Sustainability Efforts:

  • The Intelligent Refill System: The Kjaer Weis compacts were created to be used again and again, so when it’s time to purchase more of your favorite product, you simply purchase a refill of the product. You place the new product inside of the refillable packaging and the new product’s carton can be recycled.

  • The Red Edition: Red packaging designed to have a leather look but is made of high gloss textured red paper. This packaging is 100% recyclable, compostable, and refillable.

  • All Kjaer Weis makeup is free of parabens, silicones, petrochemical emulsifiers and synthetic fragrance.

  • Certified Natural or Certified Organic

ILIA

Beauty Rooted in Skincare

Believing that the best beauty comes from healthy skin, Ilia has a range of serum-based foundation as well as facial care containing SPF. Rather than using an expensive set of products to hydrate and prime the skin, use their one-step Super Serum Skin Tint to get your Hyaluronic Acids, Niacinamide and SPF in one go. Their Limitless Lash Mascara was included in Allure’s 2019 Best of Beauty picks, and their illuminator will help you achieve a simple, glowing look with a sustainable touch.

Sustainability Efforts:

  • Packaging made from recycled aluminum, glass components, and responsibly sourced paper.

  • TerraCycle Zero Waste Box: All customers can mail up to 5 beauty products per month (Ilia products or ANY other brand) and TerraCycle will break the containers down responsibly so they don’t end up in a landfill.

LINNE BOTANICALS

Clean, Good-For-The-Earth Formulas

Linne Botanicals takes clean beauty to a new level with their easy-to-use layering system. Labeled steps one through five (I-V), every product on the website has a clear indication of when it should be used and how often. The lightweight formulas are great for even the most sensitive skin types. Each product is produced in small batches with a best by date to ensure freshness.

Sustainability Efforts:

  • Linne’s packaging boxes use a mix of post-consumer waste paper and Forest Stewardship Council certified paper printed with soy-based inks.

  • Uses clear glass packaging because it can be recycled and is more accepted by recycling plants than colored glass.

  • Shower friendly packaging made from BPA-free PET plastic. PET plastic is the most widely accepted form of recyclable plastic and also has a smaller footprint than recycling glass.
