THEIR STORY

Ariel Kaye founded Parachute Home in 2014 when she saw a market opportunity for high quality home goods that are affordable, easy to shop, and sustainable. Initially, the company launched as an online-only, direct-to-consumer brand and have since grown to open several brick-and-mortar stores across the U.S. They’ve also developed their own hospitality line and sell directly to boutique hotels so everyone can enjoy the comfort of Parachute Home as they travel to new destinations.

THEIR PRODUCTS

Each product at Parachute Home is thoughtfully designed to have a clean, modern aesthetic. All of their bedding is manufactured at a family-owned factory, located in the Guimaraes region of northern Portugal. Their percale and sateen fabrics are made of the finest long-staple Egyptian cotton and their linen is pure European flax. Quality is always the top priority at Parachute Home, and with versatility being the primary goal, consumers will enjoy their products for years to come.

SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS

Parachute Home has been making sustainability efforts that range from materials to packaging.

  • The materials used for Parachute Home goods are Oeko-Tex certified, which means the products are made safely without any harmful chemicals or synthetics. Oeko-Tex surpasses all other standards in safety and environmental protection because all components of the product must comply with the standards, including the sewing thread, lining, buttons, etc.

  • Parachute also uses down manufacturers that are RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified, ensuring that the down feathers come from animals that haven’t been subjected to any unnecessary harm.

  • When a customer gets their order in the mail, all of the plastic shipping mailers used are made from 80% recycled content and are recyclable after opening. The products are also wrapped in beautiful, reusable pouches that are so charming you’ll want to reuse them in other areas of your home.

OUR TIPS

Our Sistain team members are already huge supporters of Parachute Home.

Since our team is currently working from home, it has been more important than ever to make sure our spaces are keeping us cozy and relaxed. We’ve rounded up a few tips inspired by the Parachute Home look that our team has been loving. Follow these tips to help make your space more organized, calm, and ready for relaxation.

1. Create a color story

We love Parachute Home’s neutral color story. They’ve created a line of products that can be easily paired together. Even their brighter colors like terra, shore, and blush mesh well with their classic colors of white, bone, fog, grey, navy, and coal. Make the most of your space by choosing a color story that allows you to mix and match nearly everything. This way your space will stay timeless and can be easily refreshed season to season.

Our Pick: Desert Pillow Cover ($49-69)

“Our goal every season is to offer some excitement through color while keeping the core palette livable and easily layered.”

Meghan Knox, Parachute Director of Product Development

“The color story of my home is neutral with a side of plants. Adding the Parachute Desert Lumbar to our master bedroom was an effortless choice because of the tan tones, woven texture, and dramatic yet timeless shape. The desert-inspired look of the piece pairs perfectly with our (too-many-to-count) houseplants.”

Emma Peugh, SISTAIN Visual Designer

2. Layer your linens

Layers provide the ultimate comfort whether they are cozy and warm for winter or light and airy for spring. Achieve the Parachute Home look by completing your bed with a small pillow arrangement to reflect your home color story, and a quilt or throw at the foot of the bed. Style it messy for a casual vibe or tuck it in for a minimalist modern feel. A well layered look will give your bed depth, texture, and will create an inviting welcome at the end of each day.

3. Materials matter

Enhance your sleep – the non-toxic way. Superior sleep begins with superior quality bedding that doesn’t disrupt the environment or your health. When you invest in non-toxic materials you can sleep more deeply knowing that through every step of the manufacturing process your bedding was produced without harmful chemicals.

Our Pick: Linen Sheet Set ($149-189)

“I have always found great pride in the standards we hold our textiles to. We work hard to make sure that our bedding fabrics are made using natural fibers and processed without harmful finishes. This mission continued as we started designing The Mattress. We managed create a mattress crafted with pocketed micro coils, New Zealand wool, and organic cotton; all without the use of toxic glues and chemical flame retardants. As someone who is highly conscious of brining unnecessary toxins into my home, this puts my mind at ease and lets me sleep well.”

Meghan Knox, Parachute Director of Product Development

4. Minimize the noise (clutter)

A Parachute bedroom is functional, luxurious, peaceful, and should encourage you to unwind. Minimize the noise by organizing cluttered spaces: nightstands, dressers, overcrowded bathroom vanities. Removing the chaos of clutter will relax your unconscious and allow for a better night of sleep.

Our Pick: Cloud Cotton Quilt ($249-$269)

“I really enjoy taking 30 minutes at the end of each day to tidy up. Knowing that everything is in its place helps me sleep better and allows me to start each day with a clean space and a clear mind.”
