Complete with an indoor compost bin designed to hold kitchen scraps, a 6-pack set of plant-based filters, and our reusable liner, this kit gives you everything you need to start a compost pile at home (minus the compost bin itself).

Our Astrik indoor compost bin is made from 100% plant-based plastic material designed to sit stylishly on your countertops without demanding too much space. The plant-based filters work hard to ensure odors from your kitchen scraps never arise.

Whether you decide to use the inner liner or not, all parts (minus the filters) are dishwasher and microwave safe.

Materials

100% plant-based plastic: Astrik is a composite of PLA, plant fiber. PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biodegradable thermoplastic derived from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane. It is a fantastic substitute to oil based plastics that are both nonrenewable and introduce more carbon to the environment. When properly disposed of in industrial composting facilities, PLA can break down into water, carbon dioxide, and organic matter. Even when disposed of in a regular waste stream it can break down much faster than traditional plastics.
